In the name of Allah The Most Gracious The Most Merciful.
May the peace and blessings of Allah subahanahu wa ta'aala be upon his last and final messenger(saw)
Asalamu alaykum (Peace be upon you)

Who is Muhammed?

Muhammed (peace be upon him) is the last and final messenger sent to Humanity from Allah subhaanahu wa ta'aalaa. Muhammed (peace be upon him) is the perfect example for us as humans as he played many roles. He was a father, a husband, a friend, a grandfather, a statesmen, and a leader.  Before he recieved revelation he was known as 'Al Amiin' or the trustworthy. Known for his good character and his honesty in the city where he was born, Makkah.

Allah says in the holy Qur'an about Muhammed (peace be upon him);

Surah 21 Ayah 107
'We sent thee not, but as a Mercy for all creatures.'

the Holy Prophet Muhammad (SAW) said: I have been sent  to perfect good manners.

The biography of Muhammed (peace be upon him) is available in many languages. It is available in Book form and in audio and video as well. I think we all owe it to ourselves to learn about the man (May Allah shower his peace and blessings on him) who was sent as a mercy to us. We are to follow,  admire , and send salawaat(prayers) upon him(saw). Muhammed (peace be upon him) is the best example for us to follow. He was honest, just, kind, and dealt in equality.

Allah subhaanahu wa ta'aala says in the Holy Qur'an

Surah 33 Ayah 21
'Ye have indeed in the Messenger of Allah a beautiful pattern (of conduct) for any one whose hope is in Allah and the Final Day, and who engages much in the Praise of Allah.'

Allah subhaanahu wa ta'aala says in the Holy Qur'an

Surah 33 Ayah 56
'Allah and His angels send blessings on the Prophet: O ye that believe! Send ye blessings on him, and salute him with all respect.'

With that said. I'de like to end off with this beautiful nasheed.

What is the Qur'an?

The Qur'an is the unchanged perfect words of Allah Subhanahu wa ta'aala. Revealed to Muhammed(saw) through The Angel Jibreel(as). Revealed 1400 years ago and still available without a letter added or a letter subtracted. The Qur'an contains 114 Surahs or chapters each chapter containing a certain number of ayah or verses. The longest surah in the Qur'an being Suratul Baqara consisting of 286 ayahs and the smallest chapter called suratul Kauthar consisting of 3 ayahs. The Qur'an is translated in many different languages so that people all over the world may get a copy in their preferred language and so that the message may reach every single ethnicity and race. The message of the Qur'an applies to the past, present, and future and it  contains true stories from the nations of the past as well as things that go on at this moment in time and the happenings of the future as well.

Allah says in the Holy Qur'an

Surah 7 ayah 5

"For We had certainly sent unto them a Book, based on knowledge, which We

explained in detail,- a guide and a mercy to all who believe."

Surah 38 ayah 87

"This is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds."

Benefits of reading the Qur'an:

One benefit I'de like to point out  is in this hadeeth

As an authentic hadith in At-Tirmithee proves: “Whoever reads a letter from the Book of Allah, he will have a reward. And that reward will be multiplied by ten. I am not saying that “Alif, Laam, Meem” is a letter, rather I am saying that “Alif” is a letter, “laam” is a letter and “meem” is a letter.” So increase your recitation of the Qur’an to gain these merits, and to gain the following merit as well.

Miracles of the Quran:

The scientific facts found in the Quran
Other Miracles of the Holy Qur'an

Lastly you just have to hear some for yourself

In Islam there are 6 articles of Iman(Faith or belief)
Without certain belief in these 6 articles a person cannot be a Muslim

They are:

1. Belief in Allah Subahaanahu wa ta'aala

2. Belief in the Angels

3. Belief in the Books ( The Quran, The Injeel(bible), The Zabuur(the psalms), The Taurat(the Torah)

4. Belief in the Prophet and messengers( From Adam to Muhammed and each one in between)

5.Belief in Judgment day (The Final day)

6. Belief in Divine decree (Whether good or evil)

There are also 5 pillars of Islam. These are the obligations that are enjoined on every Muslim who is able. Again not performing one of these without good reasoning or denying one of these pillars will exclude a person from the fold Islam.

They are:

1. The shahada (The testimony stating that 'There is none to be worshipped but Allah alone and that Muhammed(saw) is his messenger').

2. Performing the 5 daily prayers

3. paying the Zakah (Charity)

4. Fasting the entire month of Ramadan (From sunrise to sunset)

5. Performing the Hajj at least once in your lifetime (The pilgrimage to Makkah, if financially and physically able)

These are the beliefs and actions of Muslims in a Nutshell. These are the fundamental requirements that a person needs in order to be a correct Muslim.

Do Muslims believe in prophets.

In Islam believing in prophets is a tenant of faith meaning you cannot be a Muslim if you do not believe in any one of the prophets. The prophets all came with the same message of tauhid( worshipping Allah alone with no partners and no intercessors).

Why has God sent prophets?

Islam teaches that God has sent prophets to humanity, in different times and places, to communicate His message. Since the beginning of time, God has sent His guidance through these chosen people. They were human beings who taught the people around them about faith in One Almighty God, and how to walk on the path of righteousness. Some prophets also revealed God's Word through books of revelation. Source : http://islam.about.com/od/prophets/p/prophets.htm

There are 25 Prophets and messengers named in the Holy Qur'an. Adam(as) being the first and Muhammed (as) being the last and final messenger.

There names are as follows:

Muhammed
Isa(Jesus)
Yahya(John)
Zakariyya(Zechariah)
Yunus(Jonah)
Al-Yasa(Elisha)
Ilias(Elias)
Sulaiman(Solomon)
Dawud(David)
Dh'ul-kifl(Ezekiel)
Harun(Aaron)
Musa(Moses)
Ayyub(Job)
Shu'aib
Yousef(Joseph)
Ya'qub(Jacob)
Lut(Lot)
Ishaq(Isaac)
Isma'il(Ishmael)
Ibrahim(Abraham)
Saleh
Hud
Nuh(Noah)
Idris(Enoch)
Adam
Peace be upon them all.

Allah subhaanahu wa ta'aala says in the Holy quran
Surah 2 ayah 285
"The Messenger (Muhammad ) believes in what has been sent down to him from his Lord, and (so do) the believers. Each one believes in Allah, His Angels, His Books, and His Messengers. They say, "We make no distinction between one another of His Messengers" - and they say, "We hear, and we obey. (We seek) Your Forgiveness, our Lord, and to You is the return (of all)."

There is entire chapter in the Holy Qur'an called Suratul Anbiya(The prophets)
English translation of Suratul Anbiyaa(The prophets)

This post is to be continued Insha Allah (God willing).
Asalamu alaykum (peace be upon you) for now.

Allah says in the Quran

Surah 18 ayah 23

"And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him. And that you be dutiful to your parents. If one of them or both of them attain old age in your life, say not to them a word of disrespect, nor shout at them but address them in terms of honour."

Surah 12 ayah 40

"You do not worship besides Him but only names which you have named (forged), you and your fathers, for which Allah has sent down no authority. The command (or the judgement) is for none but Allah. He has commanded that you worship none but Him (i.e. His Monotheism), that is the (true) straight religion, but most men know not."

Surah 2 ayah 255

"Allah! There is no god but He - the Living, The Self-subsisting, Eternal. No slumber can seize Him Nor Sleep. His are all things In the heavens and on earth. Who is there can intercede In His presence except As he permitteth? He knoweth What (appeareth to His creatures As) Before or After or Behind them. Nor shall they compass Aught of his knowledge Except as He willeth. His throne doth extend Over the heavens And on earth, and He feeleth No fatigue in guarding And preserving them, For He is the Most High. The Supreme (in glory)."

Surah 59 ayah 22, 23, and 24

22. He is Allah, than Whom there is La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He) the All-Knower of the unseen and the seen (open). He is the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful.

23. He is Allah than Whom there is La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He) the King, the Holy, the One Free from all defects, the Giver of security, the Watcher over His creatures, the All-Mighty, the Compeller, the Supreme. Glory be to Allah! (High is He) above all that they associate as partners with Him.

24. He is Allah, the Creator, the Inventor of all things, the Bestower of forms. To Him belong the Best Names . All that is in the heavens and the earth glorify Him. And He is the All-Mighty, the All-Wise.

Next time someone asks you 'Who do the muslims worship?' You can answer.
