In the Name of Allah The Most Gracious The Most merciful
May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon His last and final messenger.
Asalamu alaykum (peace be upon you)

What is Jahannam (Hell) and who will enter it?

Jahannam is the abode of all those who disbelieve in Allah subhaanahu wa ta'aala and also those who are misguided and misguide others. Jahannam is the eternal home of those who have taken upon themselves the worship of others besides Allah subhaanahu wa ta'aala and have chosen a religion other than Islam.

Allah says in the Holy Qur'an

Surah 98 Ayah 6

Those who reject (Truth), among the People of the Book and among the Polytheists, will be in Hell-Fire, to dwell therein (for aye). They are the worst of creatures.

Surah 3 Ayah 131

"Fear the fire, which is prepared for the disbelievers."

Surah 78 Ayah 21-22

"Truly Hell is lying in wait- a destination for the transgressors."

Abu Hurairah (radiAllahu anhu) reported that Allah’s Messenger (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said:

“There was a dispute between Hell and Paradise during which Hell said, ‘The haughty and the proud will find abode in me.’ And Paradise said, ‘The meek and the humble will find their abode in me.’ Thereupon, Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, (addressing Hell) said, ‘You are the means of My punishment by which I punish those of My servants whom I wish.’ (and addressing Paradise), He said, ‘You are My mercy by means of which I will show mercy to those whom I wish. And each one of you will be full.’”

[Muslim]

The descriptions of the Hell fire.

The Names of Hell

It is called al-Jaheem (fire) because of its blazing fire.

It is called Jahannam (Hell) because of the depth of its pit – according to al-Qaamoos.

It is called Lazaa (blazing fire) because of its flames.

It is called al-Sa’eer (blazing flame) because it is kindled and ignited (this word is derived from the root sa’ara meaning to kindle).

It is called Saqar (Hell) because of the intensity of its heat.

It is called al-Hatamah (broken pieces, debris) because it breaks and crushes everything that is thrown into it.

It is called al-Haawiyah (chasm, abyss) because the one who is thrown into it is thrown from top to bottom… and so on.

The gates of hell

Surah 39 Ayah 72

“To them will be said, ‘Enter you the gates of Hell to dwell therein. And how evil is this abode of the arrogant.’”

Abu Hurairah (radiAllahu anhu) narrated that Allah’s Messenger (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said:

‘When the month of Ramadan begins and the gates of Heaven are opened, the gates of Hell are closed, and the devils are chained.”
[Sahih al-Bukhari]

The Levels of Hell.

Surah 3 Ayah 162-163

Is the man who follows the good pleasure of Allah like the one who draws upon himself the wrath of Allah and whose abode is in Hell – an evil refuge? They are varying grades in the sight of Allah, and Allah sees well all that they do.”

The capacity of Hell

Surah 50 Ayah 30

“On the Day We will say to Hellfire, ‘have you been filled?’ it will say, ‘Are there some more?’”

Ibn Mas'ud (radiAllahu anhu) reported that the Messenger of Allah (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said:

“Hell will be brought on that Day. IT will have seventy thousand reins with seventy thousand angels drawing it by each rein.”
[Muslim]

Abu Hurairah (radiAllahu anhu) reported that the Prophet (salAllahu alayhi wasalam) said:

“And his (the disbeliever’s) seat in Hellfire is as much as (the distance) between Makkah and Madinah.”
[at-Tirmidhi and al-Hakim]

Jannah (paradise)

In the Name of Allah The Most Gracious The Most Merciful.
May the peace and blessings of Allah be upon His

last and final messenger
Asalamu alaykum(peace be upon you)

What is Jannah (Paradise) and who will enter it?

Jannah in the Qur'an in described as gardens beneath which rivers flow. it is the home of the prophets, the righteous, and the believers in hereafter. Those who have submitted their will to Allah subhaanahu wa ta'aala and have lived there lives in the manner prescribed by Allah subhaanahu wa ta'aala.

Allah says in the Holy Qur'an

Surah 3 Ayah 136

"For such the reward is forgiveness from their Lord, and Gardens with rivers flowing underneath,- an eternal dwelling: How excellent a recompense for those who work (and strive)!"

Surah 3 Ayah 133

"Be quick in the race for forgiveness from your Lord, and for a Garden whose width is that (of the whole) of the heavens and of the earth, prepared for the righteous,"

Surah 23 Ayah 8-11

"Those who are faithfully true to their trusts and to their covenants; And those who strictly guard their (five compulsory congregational) prayers (at their fixed stated hours).  These are indeed the inheritors.  Who shall inherit the Firdaus (Paradise). They shall dwell therein forever."

Here are some Ahadeeth on the description of Jannah.

About its value

The Prophet said, "A place in Paradise as small as the bow or lash of one of you is better than all the world and whatever is in it" - Sahih Bukhari

about its size

The Prophet said, "There is a tree in Paradise (which is so big and huge that) if a rider travels in its shade for one hundred years, he would not be able to cross it." - Sahih Bukhari

About some of the characteristics of the people who will enter it.

The Prophet said, "Paradise and the Fire (Hell) argued, and the Fire (Hell) said, 'I have been given the privilege of receiving the arrogant and the tyrants.' Paradise said, 'What is the matter with me? Why do only the weak and the humble among the people enter me?' On that, Allah said to Paradise, 'You are My Mercy which I bestow on whoever I wish of my servants.' Then Allah said to the (Hell) Fire, 'You are my (means of) punishment by which I punish whoever I wish of my slaves. And each of you will have its fill.' As for the Fire (Hell), it will not be filled till Allah puts His Foot over it whereupon it will say, 'Qati! Qati!' At that time it will be filled, and its different parts will come closer to each other; and Allah will not wrong any of His created beings. As regards Paradise, Allah will create a new creation to fill it with." - Sahih Bukhari

Allah's Messenger said, "The inhabitants of Paradise are hairless, beardless and have black eyes, their youth does not pass away and their garments do not wear out." - transmitted by Tirmidhi and Darimi

Jannah is described as having 8 doors or gates.

The Prophet said, "Paradise has eight gates, and one of them is called Ar-Raiyan through which none will enter but those who observe fasting."

The Prophet also said, "If a person spends two different kinds of something (for Allah's cause), he will be called from the gates of Paradise." - Sahih Bukhari

They are as follows

1. Baabus Salaah: Those who were punctual in observing their Salaah will be granted entry through this door.

2. Baabul Jihad: Those who participated in Jihad will be granted entry through this door.

3. Baabus Sadaqah: Those who frequently gave Sadaqah will be admitted into Jannah through this door.

4. Baabur Rayyaan: The people who constantly observed the fast will be granted entry through this door.

5. Baabul Hajj: Those who observe the pilgrimage will be admitted through this door.

6. Baabul Kaazimeenal Ghaiz Wal ‘Aafina ‘Anin Naas: This door is reserved for those who suppress their anger and pardon others.

7. Baabul Aiman: This door is reserved for the entry of such people who are saved from reckoning and chastisement.

8. Baabuz Zikr: Those who excessively remembered Allah will be admitted through this door.

Some ways people can get into jannah.

Alongside belief and righteous deeds.

The Prophet  said: If a woman dies while her husband was pleased with her, she will enter Paradise.

Allah's Apostle  said, "Whoever can guarantee (the chastity of) what is between his two jaw-bones and what is between his two legs (i.e. his tongue and his private parts), I guarantee Paradise for him."

Allah's Apostle  said, "Allah has ninety-nine names, i.e. one-hundred minus one, and whoever knows them will go to Paradise." (Please see Hadith No. 419 Vol. 8)

The Prophet  said, "The person who participates in (Holy battles) in Allah's cause and nothing compels him to do so except belief in Allah and His Apostles, will be recompensed by Allah either with a reward, or booty (if he survives) or will be admitted to Paradise (if he is killed in the battle as a martyr). Had I not found it difficult for my followers, then I would not remain behind any sariya going for Jihad and I would have loved to be martyred in Allah's cause and then made alive, and then martyred and then made alive, and then again martyred in His
cause.")

Akhira( The life After Death)

13:25 SisterSister21 0 Comments

In the name of Allah the Most Gracious Most Merciful
May the peace and blessings of Allah subahanahu wa ta'aala be
upon his last and final messenger(peace be upon him)
Asalamu alaykum (Peace be upon you)

What is the Akhira?

The Akhira is the life after death and is eternal. Everyone shall take a journey to the hereafter. We have been created to Worship Allah subhaanahu wa ta'aala in order to prepare for our journey to hereafter. The Righteous lifestyle will mean bliss and comfort in the hereafter and the wicked lifestyle will mean torment and chastisement. Allah is Al Hayyul Qayyum( The Ever living and Self Existing by whom all subsist). Allah Subhaanahu wa ta'aala is not subject to death for he is the one who gives both life and death.

Allah says in the Holy Qur'an

Surah 55 Ayahs 26 and 27

"Whatsoever is on it (the earth) will perish."

"And the Face of your Lord full of Majesty and Honour will abide forever."

The Journey to Akhira starts with death. Death is inevitable and is a painful and frightening experience.

Allah say in the holy Quran

Surah 50 Ayah 19

"And the stupor of death will bring Truth (before his eyes): "This was the thing which thou wast trying to escape!"

Surah 21 Ayah 35

"Everyone is going to taste death, and We shall make a trial of you with evil and with good, and to Us you will be returned."

When the Person Dies the Soul leaves the body and the body is buried. The Person than enters into the barzakh. The grave is filled with trial and tests one of the biggest being the questioning in the grave. the two angels Munkar and Nakiir will question a person as to Who is his Lord, What is his Religion and and Who is this man who was sent among you? The Questioning will go smoothly and easily for the one who lived a righteous lifestyle and lived by the Conditions of 'Laa Ilaaha Ila Laah (There is none to be worshipped but Allah)'. As for he/she who associated partners with Allah subhaanahu wa ta'aala and lived a retched life, when he/she is asked these three questions, they will say 'Oh, oh, I don’t know'.

This is the full hadeeth of the events of death and the grave.

It was narrated that al-Bara’ (may Allaah be pleased with him) said: We went out with the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) for the funeral of a man from among the Ansaar. We came to the grave and when (the deceased) was placed in the lahd, the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) sat down and we sat around him, as if there were birds on our heads (i.e., quiet and still). In his hand he had a stick with which he was scratching the ground. Then he raised his head and said, “Seek refuge with Allaah from the torment of the grave”, two or three times. Then he said, “When the believing slave is about to depart this world and enter the Hereafter, there come down to him from heaven angels with white faces like the sun, and they sit around him as far as the eye can see. They bring with them shrouds from Paradise and perfumes from Paradise. Then the Angel of Death comes and sits by his head, and he says, ‘O good soul, come forth to forgiveness from Allaah and His pleasure.’ Then it comes out easily like a drop of water from the the mouth of a waterskin. When he seizes it, they do not leave it in his hand for an instant before they take it and put it in that shroud with that perfume, and there comes from it a fragrance like the finest musk on the face of the earth. Then they ascend and they do not pass by any group of angels but they say, ‘Who is this good soul?’ and they say, ‘It is So and so the son of So and so, calling him by the best names by which he was known in this world, until they reach the lowest heaven. They ask for it to be opened to them and it is opened, and (the soul) is welcomed and accompanied to the next heaven by those who are closest to Allaah, until they reach the seventh heaven. Then Allaah says: ‘Record the book of My slave in ‘Illiyoon in the seventh heaven, and return him to the earth, for from it I created them, to it I will return them and from it I will bring them forth once again.’ So his soul is returned to his body and there come to him two angels who make him sit up and they say to him, ‘Who is your Lord?’ He says, ‘Allaah.’ They say, ‘What is your religion?’ He says, ‘My religion is Islam.’ They say, ‘Who is this man who was sent among you?’ He says, ‘He is the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him).’ They say, ‘What did you do?’ He says, ‘I read the Book of Allaah and I believed in it.’ Then a voice calls out from heaven, ‘My slave has spoken the truth, so prepare for him a bed from Paradise and clothe him from Paradise, and open for him a gate to Paradise.’ Then there comes to him some of its fragrance, and his grave is made wide, as far as he can see. Then there comes to him a man with a handsome face and handsome clothes, and a good fragrance, who says, ‘Receive the glad tidings that will bring you joy this day.’ He says, ‘Who are you? Your face is a face which brings glad tidings.’ He says, ‘I am your righteous deeds.’ He says, ‘O Lord, hasten the Hour so that I may return to my family and my wealth.’ But when the disbelieving slave is about to depart this world and enter the Hereafter, there come down to him from heaven angels with black faces, bringing sackcloth, and they sit around him as far as the eye can see. Then the Angel of Death comes and sits by his head, and he says, ‘O evil soul, come forth to the wrath of Allaah and His anger.’ Then his soul disperses inside his body, then comes out cutting the veins and nerves, like a skewer passing through wet wool. When he seizes it, they do not leave it in his hand for an instant before they take it and put it in that sackcloth, and there comes from it a stench like the foulest stench of a dead body on the face of the earth. Then they ascend and they do not pass by any group of angels but they say, ‘Who is this evil soul?’ and they say, ‘It is So and so the son of So and so, calling him by the worst names by which he was known in this world, until they reach the lowest heaven. They ask for it to be opened to them and it is not opened.” Then the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) recited (interpretation of the meaning):
“for them the gates of heaven will not be opened, and they will not enter Paradise until the camel goes through the eye of the needle”
[al-A’raaf 7:40]
He said: “Then Allaah says, ‘Record the book of My slave in Sijjeen in the lowest earth, and return him to the earth, for from it I created them, to it I will return them and from it I will bring them forth once again.’ So his soul is cast down.”  Then the Messenger of Allaah (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) recited the verse (interpretation of the meaning):
“and whoever assigns partners to Allaah, it is as if he had fallen from the sky, and the birds had snatched him, or the wind had thrown him to a far off place”
[al-Hajj 22:31]
He said: “Then his soul is returned to his body, and there come to him two angels who make him sit up and they say to him, ‘Who is your Lord?’ He says, ‘Oh, oh, I don’t know.’ They say, ‘What is your religion?’ He says, ‘Oh, oh, I don’t know.’ Then a voice calls out from heaven, ‘Prepare for him a bed from Hell and clothe him from Hell, and open for him a gate to Hell.’ Then there comes to him some of its heat and hot winds, and his grave is constricted and compresses him until his ribs interlock. Then there comes to him a man with an ugly face and ugly clothes, and a foul stench, who says, ‘Receive the bad news, this is the day that you were promised.’ He says, ‘Who are you? Your face is a face which forebodes evil.’ He says, ‘I am your evil deeds.’ He says, ‘O Lord, do not let the Hour come, do not let the Hour come.’”
